I.T. Newell
Americorps Volunteer @ Teton Science Schools

ABOUT
ME!
My name is I.T. Newell and I spent the fall of 2018 in Jackson, Wyoming as an AmeriCorps Volunteer at Teton Science Schools. I took a leap of faith by joining this program - I did not have extensive formal teaching experience, but I did have a love for the outdoors, for science, for conservation; all of which seemed to align well with the TSS mission. I graduated from Western Washington University in 2017 with a B.S. in Environmental Science, and I was looking for a way to use this, as well as past experiences, to dive into the field of outdoor education. With the help of many mentors and educators throughout my life, I have been able to cultivate a love for science and a connection to place that I hoped to pass on to my students and to this community during my time with TSS. This fall I gained practical experience working in classrooms of many different types connecting people to the world around them in order to foster compassion, commitment, and love for outdoor spaces.
